OFSTED

Ofsted is an independent body that inspects and regulates schools by monitoring progress  to promote improvement. Cathcart Street Primary School was inspected in March 2024 and was graded as 'Requires Improvement'.  Here are a few highlights from the report:

  1. Pupils are happy to attend this school and know that staff care about them.
  2. In the EYFS, the school has a clearly defined curriculum. This is consistently delivered by teachers from the provision for two-year-olds through to the end of Reception class.
  3. There is a renewed focus on prioritising reading. Stories are shared regularly in the early years and across the school.
  4. Pupils’ attendance is improving and is higher than in the past.
  5. Pupils with SEND are identified early and support is put in place quickly.
