At Cathcart Street, parents are always welcome into our school. We believe that the support of parents is one of the most important things we can promote. If you wish to talk with a class teacher, please make an appointment or find a convenient time to talk.
We want parents to share as much as possible in their child’s education and all aspects of life at Cathcart Street. We welcome Parents helping in classrooms, on school visits and in the preparation of work for children. We are always keen to support parents who wish to organise fundraising activities and at present, we have a small yet enthusiastic group of parents who meet regularly at coffee mornings with school staff.
Parents who would like to support in classrooms need to know that they now have to complete a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) form for clearance. If you want any more information, ask your child’s teacher who will give you advice about the best person to contact.
We are also committed to providing opportunities for parents who want to know more about how to help their children – please watch out for information on our courses and sessions for parents which are advertised throughout the year e.g. Family Numeracy, Family Literacy. These will be advertised on the school website, the school noticeboard and through letters sent home. If you have ideas/suggestions for courses, please let us know.
Parents who are considering admitting their child to the school should make an appointment with the Head Teacher, who will be pleased to talk with you about admission procedures.
If you wish your child to be placed on the Foundation One waiting list, please make a first appointment with any of the Foundation 1 staff. You and your child will be invited to attend a 1 hour visit before being admitted to school.
