Reading
Children in Year 3 are expected to read their reading book at least 4 times a week to an adult and their reading log needs to be signed. If your reading log is not signed by an adult we will presume you have not read. Reading is also counted as homework, so if children fail to read at home they will need to spend break time reading. There will be rewards for children that are reading consistently.
*Reading logs will be checked regularly*

Maths
TT Rockstars
In Year 3 we will be using TT Rockstars to help them recall and practise multiplication facts. Children should also be logging on TT Rockstar's as much as they can and practice their times tables. Their login details will be in the front of their reading log so they can practice at home. Some weeks children will be asked to complete TT Rockstar's as their homework so if your child can't log on please let us know.
Pupils should be taught to:
• compare and group together different kinds of rocks on the basis of their appearance and simple physical properties.
• describe in simple terms how fossils are formed when things that have lived are trapped within rock
• recognise that soils are made from rocks and organic matter.
History
Year 3 will be learning about Ancient Egypt in history. Pupils will learn about the key features of Ancient Egypt such as: buildings, religion, writing, farming.
Which river was important to the early Egyptians civilization?

Why did the Egyptians build pyramids?
