Reading

Children in Year 3 are expected to read their reading book at least 4 times a week to an adult and their reading log needs to be signed. If your reading log is not signed by an adult we will presume you have not read. Reading is also counted as homework, so if children fail to read at home they will need to spend break time reading. There will be rewards for children that are reading consistently.

*Reading logs will be checked regularly*

English
This term our book will be Rhythm of the Rain written by Grahame Baker-Smith. We will use this text to help use write about settings and produce an information text about rivers.

Maths
In maths this half term, we will be continuing our maths learning journey with Multiplication and Division. We will still be practising and rehearsing our multiplication facts and doing our best to remember and recall as many of them as possible. We will also revisit our previous Year 2 learning when measuring length and perimeter including: Measure, compare, add and subtract: lengths (m/cm/mm); mass (kg/g); volume/capacity (l/ml) Measure the perimeter of simple 2-D shapes.

TT Rockstars

In Year 3 we will be using TT Rockstars to help them recall and practise multiplication facts. Children should also be logging on TT Rockstar's as much as they can and practice their times tables. Their login details will be in the front of their reading log so they can practice at home. Some weeks children will be asked to complete TT Rockstar's as their homework so if your child can't log on please let us know.

Pupils should be taught to:

• compare and group together different kinds of rocks on the basis of their appearance and simple physical properties.
