Welcome back after the Easter holidays!

 

Homework and Spellings will be sent home on a Monday.

Homework due on the Friday. 

 

Spellings given on a Monday will be tested on a Friday. 

 

P.E. will be on a Friday. P.E. kits to be named and in a named bag. P.E. will be outside again for this half term so you may want to send in a track suit to keep legs and arms warm. 

 

ENGLISH

We will be reading the book Return written by Aaron Becker. 

 

We will be learning to write our own setting description using the images from the story and we will also be writing a non-fiction travel report.

 

Our class read is Esio Trot by Roald Dahl, after the children read The Magic Finger in the Autumn term, we are continuing getting to know the author.

MATHS

We will be focusing our maths learning on fractions. We will be using and understanding fraction notation, finding unit fractions of quantities, learning fractions within 1 in the linear number system, and adding and subtracting fractions within 1.

 

Most of you are enjoying playing TT Rockstars which is an interactive mental maths resources that will help you recall multiplication and division facts. Please keep going!

Geography 

 

This half term our Geography topic is learning about Mountains, Volcanoes and Earthquakes.

 We are going to learn about how volcanoes are formed and the impact that volcanoes and earthquakes can have around the earth.  

 

  Can you name the two types of volcanoes?

 

 

 

              

 

 

SCIENCE

 

For science this half term we will be learning about how plants grow and what they need in order to grow. We will be observing plants growing over time and applying our maths skills to measure and record the growth of plants.
