James Milner & NSPCC Visit

Last week as part of our Safeguarding Week, we welcomed the UK’s leading children’s charity, NSPCC, to school to deliver its Speak Out, Stay Safe programme.  Through a series of child-friendly, interactive assemblies and workshops, specially trained NSPCC staff and volunteers gave our children information about how to keep themselves safe from harm and how to get help if they have any worries.  Using age-appropriate language, issues such as bullying and abuse were sensitively discussed.

During the day, we were joined by a very special guest - Liverpool FC left-back, James Milner. James has his own charitable foundation which has been supporting the work of the NSPCC for many years.  Part of the foundation’s aim is to support the NSPCC’s work when visiting primary schools to empower children and giving them the courage to speak up.

During the KS2 assembly, James Milner presented the NSPCC with a cheque for £30,000 to help the charity continue its vital work in teaching children how they can speak out and stay safe. Afterwards, James held a Q&A session with Year 6 and then spent time meeting the staff and pupils.
