Goodbye from Mrs Bishop

As I bid farewell to Cathcart Street, I want to wish children, parents, carers and all who have been part of our wonderful school community the very best for the future. Our aim at Cathcart Street has always been to provide the very best learning opportunities for all our children, not only in academic subjects but in skills for life. Relationships have always been at the heart of our school and I am sure that will continue to be so. We want families to feel supported and children to make very good progress and achieve well. We want school to be a place where our children can develop resilience and essential life skills, to become confident and successful citizens of the future; children who are independent learners who enjoy challenge.

It is a huge privilege to be a teacher and one that I have enjoyed immensely over the years.  To all our parents, I want to thank you for bringing your children to our school and trusting them with us every day. The triangle of support between pupil, school and yourselves is so important and one which we value very much indeed. I hope you will make the most of every day with your children for the years pass quickly. Parents being involved in their children’s lives gives them greater opportunities for success.

To all of our staff, I thank you for your great work and your commitment to our school, our pupils and our vision. Together we have all moved our school forward. To other staff that are leaving this summer, I would like to express my sincere thanks for their hard work and dedication. They all leave with our best wishes for the future.

To all of the children at Cathcart Street, past and present, thank you for making our school the special place it is. Thank you for your enthusiasm, your laughter and your hard work. Reading your end of year reports allowed me to see just how much you achieved.

Finally to all our Y6 pupils leaving this year, I hope the skills you have learned at Cathcart Street will equip you for life. Remember never give up. Look for the positive in everything and embrace the challenges in life because that’s how we learn. You don’t have to follow the crowd do the right thing even if no-ones looking. My very best wishes to you always.

I will always think fondly of Cathcart Street and follow the school’s progress with immense interest. Good luck to all for the future.
